my oh my: Evie is 2!!

I cannot believe that Evie is two. Okay, I can believe it, but it's just gone really really fast. With Noah at this stage, it seemed like it lasted a lot longer. But I was in school and that was a crazy time for us all. But now we're quite settled. For goodness sakes, Noah was this old when we moved here!!!

Still, I can't imagine our lives without her in them. We love Evangeline Kristina and thank the Lord that He has given us two wonderful years with her. What a joy she is.

We're getting ready to sing. She quite enjoyed that =)

Noah is blurry b/c he never stops moving. He's talking to Grampa B right now.

Evie only wanted the ice cream. No cake for her! And I spent so much time on that frosting in my post-surgery state! Oh well, I really enjoyed the frosting.

Tawnya and Tim came with their three kiddos and her mom and dad, JoAnn and Herb.

Kalli and Noah

JoAnn and Herb

Okay, I did not try to look nice so just look at Evie. She is pulling out Grampa and Gramma B's present - that gorgeous yellow dress!

There's little miracle boy Kellen =)

The confetti ball. Notice the 8 necklaces draped around Evie's neck. Yeah, she's been walking around with them - ALL of them, ALL day long (except for her nap).

Glitter ball

Yay for the party!

a trade?

Can you believe Terry is actually going to give up his first love, THE Blazer (a 91)? Yeah, surprising I know.

Here is what he will be getting to replace it! A 98 Blazer. It's a beast. I don't know cars so ask Terry.

more hanging out

I forgot these photos but had to put them up. I think we're just hanging out. The boys are discussing some deep ideas or something. Everyone is smiling at Anson who is eating.

my APPY

So...

I had my first general anesthesia surgery on April Fools Day... People totally thought we were joking. This was not a joke, unfortunately.

Yep, I awoke at 4am on March 31st, Evie's birthday (for goodness sakes!), with abdominal pain. I thought it would go away after I curled up in a ball on the couch and went back to sleep. I had plans that afternoon so I continued on with them. I drove to Kearney, an hour away, and felt worse when I got there. It wasn't nausea. It was just pain in my belly, specifically around my belly button and the right side if I pressed on it.

I did some shopping for Evie, got my haircut, etc. but the pain just got more severe. When I finally left town at 3, I was bent over in the car crying b/c I thought it was serious. I was actually thinking, Great I have appendicitis and I'm going to have to have surgery! Yuck. Perhaps the self-diagnosis made it worse.

Anyway, I went to the clinic as soon as I got home and Dr. Dave said what I was thinking. My white count was up and I had all the symptoms of appendicitis. There was no surgeon in town so we had to travel to North Platte. That was a long drive.

Once in the ER, we had to wait longer to make sure I wasn't pregnant b/c of all the tests and drugs that were necessary. I wasn't. And now I know why I haven't gotten pregnant all this time =) God really is sovereign. Thank you for watching over me Lord.

Anyway, once that was out of the way, I was able to have morphine. Dude, that stuff was good. Then I had to drink the narsty contrast for the CT scan, which further clarified the appendicitis. At 1145pm they finally wheeled me out of the ER for surgery.

(this isn't actually my appendix. i just borrowed this pic to give you an idea... sorry if it grossed you out)

Terry was such a trooper. He stayed there even though I didn't wake up till after 2am and didn't get to my recovery room till after 3am. He didn't get home to bed till like 4am! I slept pretty good b/c of the great morphine PCA pump. Oh yeah.

I got to come home shortly after lunch and was pretty wiped. Today, the day after returning home, I'm pretty darn sore. My incision sites are painful and bruised, but I think by tomorrow I will be on the mend... I hope.

This is what I read online (http://www.medicinenet.com/appendectomy/article.htm) about it:

What is the appendix?

The appendix is a closed-ended, narrow tube that attaches to the cecum (the first part of the colon) like a worm. (The anatomical name for the appendix, vermiform appendix, means worm-like appendage.) The inner lining of the appendix produces a small amount of mucus that flows through the appendix and into the cecum. The wall of the appendix contains lymphatic tissue that is part of the immune system for making antibodies. Like the rest of the colon, the wall of the appendix also contains a layer of muscle.

What is appendicitis?

Appendicitis is inflammation of the appendix. It is thought that appendicitis begins when the opening from the appendix into the cecum becomes blocked. The blockage may be due to a build-up of thick mucus within the appendix or to stool that enters the appendix from the cecum.

goodbye house guests

What a happy photo, huh? We were blessed to house these good buddies while they were getting new vehicles figured out. Oh, and Adam got his tooth fixed. And spidey worked on his moves. So did Alistair. That baby will be walking very soon. So here we are all saying goodbye.

"BATTLE AX!!!"

She's such a good mommy

Da boys saying good bye

Snap is smelling what Evie had for breakfast...or something.

Good bye Erngela!

Good bye Crumptons!

Adios!

getting along

Adam and Krista and their two kidlings were here for about a week and a half. It was a good time, though even Krista said she was "feeling like I should get a black and white striped shirt and a whistle." I felt much the same.

But it was great to have them here and we all had such fun together.

Here is their last night here and the kids were playing really well outside. Perhaps they just needed more room to RUN. Evie is old enough now to climb the ladder on her own!

She was pointing at a plane in the sky but kept saying "Cloud!" It was cute.

All three in harmony

Run run run

This boy is a runner. He really likes to just run and race. Look at how long and lean!

Alistair was a runnin fool too

Poor Snap really got beat up though =)
More running

And spinning

And sliding

story hour graduation

Noah turns 5 in just 17 days or so... So, he graduated from Story Hour at the library two weeks ago. Here is the story and video from last year. It was a hilarious video, but I'm happy to say that Noah has grown out of some of his exuberance a little =) I don't really have anything out of the ordinary in the video to put up so I don't think I'm going to.

I wasn't able to go this year b/c I work on Thursdays. So Terry went, just like last year.

Here is the boy with his "necklace" as he calls it. He always wears the thing. And he's already received his little blue Story Hour button.

I don't think Noah participated in any of the motions for the songs. He's just not that kind of boy. Now, when Evie gets older, she might like that stuff, but not the boy =)

Here Noah is receiving his Happy Birthday button. He LOVES these buttons. Seriously. It's been over a week and he wears them everyday. He puts them on his dresser every night and wants to dress right away in the morning so he can put them back on. He even wears them to church. Silly boy =)

Here the librarian is giving him his certificates. He had perfect attendance and a photo of him with Santa at Christmas - he looked much less freaked out than last year =)

How happy does that boy look?!

Checking out this hat thing.

It's like he's being extra careful so it doesn't fall off his head!

THE cause youth group

At Dare to Share this year we were encouraged to take seriously Jesus' cause, THE cause - sharing Him with our friends. Since we had two missionaries in the house 2 weeks ago and that's what they do for a living, we discussed THE cause.

Here is Terry introducing Alistair, Adam, Krista, Anson, Angie and Ernesto.

Ernesto was chewing on his cigar/marker.

Krista was only there for a little bit of junior high youth group before her kids just needed to get out of there. I know the feeling Krista =) I never stay for long either!

We played a game something like, Guess that missionary. Terry made a slideshow of different wacky things the 4 of them might have done and the kids had to guess who did what and go to that person to vote. Hence the marker for correct guesses. Here's Ernesto surrounded. They always thought he did the most outrageous stuff but they weren't always right. Adam survived a plane crash and Angie has traveled the most.

Terry and Adam chillaxing.

Entertain those kids Krista!

Terry yelling at the junior highers. Actually, I'm pretty sure he's teaching =)

Adam always has a Coke. He probably puts it in his babies sippy cup too =)

Ern looks like he's drooling on poor Angie's shoulder...
