Finishing the projects begun by the wood floor

When we completed our wood flooring project in February, we left off all the old trim, planning to get new stuff later. Terry took the second to last week of May off, after all youth group activities were done, so we could finish up all the last projects before our Mexico and L.A. mission trip.

Back in January, we went from this...

...and this (notice the orange paint because now it's gone)...

...to this! But there was still no trim and old paint.

I added the boys' room to the list of projects.

I am not as into bright colors as I used to be, ha ha ha. That green was a *terrible* idea. I only picked it because it matched Samuel's bedspread.

Besides paint, the boys' room was the only one left upstairs that hadn't been stripped of popcorn ceiling texture.

Once we got the bedroom ready, we went to Menards to buy all the supplies we needed for the week. The weather had been bad all winter, and now that spring can come it had switched over from snow to near constant rain. The power went out when we were in Menards. What a memorable trip.

We bought some trip boards extra long because it was cheaper. They wouldn't fit in our van so Terry bought a cheap hand saw and cut them outside in the rain. 😂

Look at all that trim!

Once we returned we got to work scraping the dreaded popcorn off.

What a difference right?

I had Luna sit next to the pile for a size comparison.

We painted right away and again, what a difference!

The next day we began painting over the green walls. I decided to go with the same color as what I had chosen for the main floor, SW 7029 Agreeable Gray. It was one shade lighter than what we had downstairs before, Mindful Gray.

Tadah!

Next up was the hallway. You can see the darker shade in the middle. We also painted the hall ceiling back to white. I had scraped them and painted them gray back in the day, er, 2014. It's so dark up there it needed brightening.

Tadah! No trim yet though.

We finished off the night with the stairs and beginning the main floor walls. Terry getting it done. 😂

The next day we started and finished the main floor. I like to take pictures of Terry spread eagled like that. 😂

We finally painted over the burnt orange color in the kitchen and dining room that had been chosen by the previous owner.

When we first bought the house in 2012 I was going to paint it gray but everyone else liked it so much they wanted to keep it. I wouldn't let them this time. Goodbye orange!! 😏 Oh, and I added six more coats of poly to our table.

Prae came over to help paint but we had it covered so she sort of entertained the kids.

They worked on that puzzle all day!

We did take some breaks...like this wrestling match.

Wrestling the dog.

We also replaced this nasty old pine ledge boards.

New ones.

Before

And after! 😍

The following day Steven and Prae came over again. They got all the boards measured and cut.

Then Terry and I stained them.

A sampling of the trim.

And that's the end of the project!

Oh wait, I also organized the loft. Woo hoo, big deal, but it needed to be done before we left since we were renting our house.

And now a few things we did during that week. I got a haircut. Ezra got shots that day too.

It snowed in the middle of the week, May 21st! They got two feet in the hills!! Such a crazy cold spring.

We ate at Applebees one day with a gift card because who wants to cook in a mess?

We visited my parents and discovered Noah was taller than my dad.

Terry and I took the youth group seniors to the Alpine Inn like we have for several years. There was snow everywhere up there.

Good times.

We had Grace over for a sleepover.

Thankfully the apple blossoms didn't die in the snow.
