a cold spring ranch visit

We went to the ranch after church on the last Sunday of March, the 25th. We'd been wanting to make that more of a habit, like a monthly occurrence and the last time we had been out there was just before Samuel got sick with Influenza B, on February 10th. Shari and Jesse joined us all for lunch and afterwards we went for a ride on Jerry's new side-by-side.
Apparently Ezra was afraid and that's what Grace was holding his hand, circled in red.

With all the kids, noise, and activity, I didn't even realize that Ezra was frightened, though he did insist on sitting on my lap. It was so cute how they were holding hands though.

Off we go!

And the girls plus Samuel were in the trunk like bed behind us.

A little video of us just getting started down the driveway.

It was cold so we drove down the gravel road slowly and then around Terry's grandpa's broken down car lane, which we'd last done on a much nicer day in October. This is the house Terry's folks first lived in.

Headed back home.

The girls plus Samuel were pretty filthy once they got out of that bed. Good thing Grampa cleaned it up the following week. But, well, it is a ranch ride.

We stopped at the creek to throw rocks in.

I made them all line up for a proper photo. It was spring but it sure didn't feel like it. At least all the snow had melted.

Commence throwing rocks, children.

Some video of the event.

I was frozen, in large part due to the poor footwear choice I wore that day, and so I waited in the side-by-side that at least broke the wind.

Kids playing behind me.

It was calving season so all the little guys were adorably romping around the field.

Here they are.

Grandpa went out to check the cows for babies and move them around for the snow that was supposed to come the following day.

I think we were watching Alf at this point but we also played cards like always. It was a good day.
